An English Kitchen

Plain English is a UK based cabinetmaker who specializes in handmade, luxury kitchens that applies techniques of 18th and 19th century cabinetmakers.  But the bottom line is their kitchens are dreamy.  And I would like one really badly. Just take a look at a few snapshots from their portfolio and you will know what I mean…

Above are just a few of the images I love from their portfolio, but you can see more of Plain English’s work here.  Besides having well-constructed, customized cabinetry, Plain English takes advantage of how beautiful painted cabinetry can be when combined with the right textures including flooring, wall colors, hardware, countertops and fixtures.  Their kitchens also gracefully combine multiple cabinetry colors and countertops by softly varying the tints and shades.  I also love how these kitchens experiment with a variety of hardware including some unexpected selections to add visual interest and intrigue.  For example, on the islands, they use cabinet drop pulls that you may ordinarily see on a piece of furniture.  This is a good technique to use along with painting the island a color other than the rest of your cabinetry to make the island look more like a furniture piece.  With visions of a relaxing English countryside kitchen floating about in my mind, I would love to use the materials below in a new kitchen renovation…(any takers???)

What do you think?!? Do you love this style as much as I do?  I can just picture myself waking up early and having a cup of coffee while preparing breakfast in one of these simple yet elegant and tranquil kitchens…
